Revising the Sphere Handbook: what is new and how you can contribute
20170427 - 20170427
Please be aware that this is a past event.
The widely-used Sphere Handbook, Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response, was first published in 2000 in a process initiated and led by Sphere. The document sets out minimum standards, which cover life-saving areas of humanitarian response, as well as the common principles on which they are grounded.
Following two revisions in 2004 and 2011, these standards are being currently updated again to reflect the evolving needs of people affected by disaster and armed conflict. A new version of the Handbook will be published in 2018 following comprehensive research and consultations in which PHAP is partnering with Sphere to help strengthen the revision process.
Join us on 27 April to learn more about the first draft of the next Sphere standards, and find out how you can contribute to their development. Participants will be provided with an overview of what is new in terms of structure and content in the first draft of the revised Sphere Handbook. They will also learn how they can share their views and feedback. The event will feature brief presentations on each Handbook chapter, followed by an opportunity for participants to ask questions.
