The Art of Listening: Setting up an Inter-Agency Two Way Communications Centre in Iraq
20150313 - 20150313
Please be aware that this is a past event.
Bring your lunch and join Amy Rhoades (IOM's Humanitarian Communications Programme Manager) and Sarah Mace (previously OCHA's Iraq Communication with Communities Coordinator), to discuss learning from setting up Iraq's first inter-agency two way communications centre for displaced communities.
For the first time, a national toll-free hotline for populations affected by the recent displacements in Iraq is being implemented as an inter-agency initiative, involving IOM, NRC, UNHCR, UNOPS, WFP, and World Vision.
The hotline provides information about humanitarian aid such as food distribution points, medical services, and shelter. Using Community Response Map, an online feedback platform, the call centre also registers and refers urgent needs and complaints, and provides a mechanism by which recipients of humanitarian relief can convey their feedback, suggestions, and concerns about the efficacy of aid programmes.
This project seeks to promote results based management via community feedback in crisis response.
This is a great opportunity to hear from colleagues involved in setting up a common service two way communications project in a challenging setting.
#CDACLearn Events bring practitioners together to discuss and learn from new and collaborative initiatives to improve communicating with communities in humanitarian response.

NB: This event will be live-streamed, with an opportunity to ask questions online. However, it is always good to get people in the same room to ensure a good discussion, so if you are London based, please come in person if you can!
